I need some advice on dealing with United Collection Bureau. They've been calling my elderly parents and even a neighbor, trying to get information about me and hinting at my debt. I feel humiliated. I thought debt collectors weren't allowed to share your private information with just anyone.
When I finally answered their call to ask them to stop, the representative was incredibly rude and aggressive. They made vague threats about "legal action" but still refuse to send me a proper debt validation letter in the mail. I found a page that explains why this is likely illegal, especially the part about contacting other people:
